16th International Conference on
Atomic Processes in Plasmas
The 16th APiP meeting will be held in Monterey, California from March 22 to March 26 2009 at The Embassy Suites Monterey Bay - Seaside. We have arranged a special conference room rate of $179.00 per night.
Registration for students is being subsidized in order to encourage as many of our young colleagues as possible to attend. There will be prizes given for the best posters presented by a student.
APiP Conference Banquet
The APiP Conference Banquet, Wednesday, March 25th from 7-10:30 pm, will be at the stunning one-million-gallon Outer Bay exhibit of the Monterey Bay Aquarium which is home to the largest community of open-ocean animals to be found in any aquarium.
Giant bluefin tuna power their way through the water. Hammerhead sharks circle inches away. Sea turtles cruise lazily by. Enjoy a three course sit down dinner by the largest window in North America with a fish-eye view of the million-gallon exhibit. After dinner take a stroll through the Outer Bay wing and drift away with the jellies.

Topics covered:
High-energy density physics
- laser and pulsed-power facilities
- fast-ignition and inertial fusion
Astrophysical plasmas
Magnetic-fusion plasmas
- ITER, DIII-D, JET, etc.
Bench-top scale plasmas
- table-top lasers, EBITs
Next generation light sources
- LCLS, DESY, free-electron lasers
