Los Angeles has spent the last decade successfully revitalizing their downtown area. The location of our conference hotel, The Omni, is right in the center of the action.

Downtown LA is home to performing arts centers, old movie houses, art deco buildings and wonderful restaurants. The Omni sits at the top of Bunker Hill, right next to the Museum of Modern Art and across the street from the Disney Concert Hall and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. You can eat at the nearby Grand Central Market, a bazaar of ethnic foods.

For architecture enthusiasts, the Los Angeles Conservancy has several walking tours that highlight the city’s varied styles, including classical revival, art deco, Renaissance revival and moderne. The El Pueblo Historical Monument – more popularly known as Olvera Street, remains a favorite with visitors for its authentic Mexican food and shopping. At Olvera Street, visitors can tour the oldest house in Los Angeles, the Avila Adobe.

Also located nearby the hotel is a subway stop that can take you all the way Hollywood and Highland, home of the Kodak Theatre and the Oscar Museum along with a multitude of shops and fabulous food. Also at Hollywood and Highland, there is a bus that will take you directly up to the newly remodeled Griffith Park Observatory.  It’s a wonderful place to visit, especially for astronomers! The subway can also take you all the way up to Universal City where there are many choices for restaurants and entertainment. You won’t need a car if you don’t mind a little walking!
